Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad, (RKMLSP) Narendrapur is an integrated unit of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Narendrapur which is a branch centre of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah. RKMLSP has been engaged in rural development and upliftment of the rural disadvantaged communities for the last six decades by rendering service through a 3-tier network of dedicated non-government Community Based Organisations (CBOs), to the distressed, deprived, neglected and downtrodden of the rural community, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

Focal Area

Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad formulated various activities with the object of upliftment of the under privileged class in general and the youth in particular and felt it necessary to build up Peoples’ Organisations at various level with active participation of local youth. The various programmes/activities made by the Parishad were aimed at character building and man making. All the programmes are tailor-made to suit the target group, mostly involving the Youth. With a view to build up a strong organisational set up, a three tier model was established operating multifarious activities for the rural development. The activities have occupied a vital place and functioned as a tool for holistic development of the youth and their organizations.

The main focal area of work is human resources development in all the spheres of life through education aiming at total development covering economic, social, cultural and spiritual upliftment with emphasis on child, youth and women development.

Mission, Vision

Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Narendrapur, founded on the basic spiritual ethos of Swami Vivekananda the great prophet of modern India and His Master Sri Ramakrishna, that ‘Service to man is Service to God’ with the avowed objective of rural development by empowerment of people in general, poor/downtrodden/unreached in particular through health, education, economic and environmental development. The preaching of Lord Sri Ramakrishna “Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva” i.e. humanity should be served as divine beings, has been carried by the Parishad as its maiden motto in the various service oriented activities.
