Background

Inspired and impelled by the heart-stirring call of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Buddhananda Ji, an altruist missionary founded Sri Ramkrishna Ashram at Nimpith in 1960 with avowed mission to serve the destitute, the deserted and the distressed. Depending upon fund collected from public charity the Ashram has since been rendering incessant services to the people in the

fields of Education, Health, Socio-culture, poverty-alleviation by means of agro-based activities. In its efforts towards this end the Ashram has built up useful collaboration with youth clubs and farmers clubs in different villages of the Sundarbans. It has also developed a cordial relation of useful partnership with WHH over the last three decades in it efforts towards rural upliftment in the Sundarbans. The Ashram lives on with the motto of minimum input for the maximum benefit to be brought about for the people in need.

Mission, Vision

Material & spiritual Welfare of the people in general is the ultimate Goal and Objectives of our Ashram. Material well-being of the have-nots, the hapless and the hopeless is our top priority while our spiritual services stand secondary to meeting the peoples basic needs in modern living. With this mission in view our principal activities are oriented and directed towards the upliftment of socio-economic status of the neglected and obscured strata at par with the high-up and the well-to-do in the society. Ashram services to the poor and the needy are planned to bring about gradual self-reliance of the target beneficiaries without any discrimination whatsoever, irrespective of castes, creed, sex or religion. And in the process it ensures unreserved democratic participation by one and all in the region encompassed by the Ashram services in the developmental activities towards realization of fraternity, equality and liberty.
