The green college initiative name as Haritgram Green College is located at Maniyarpur village in Devipur block of Deoghar district. It is 25 km from Deoghar town and near about 50 km from Giridih town. In Deoghar district, it covers three blocks i.e. Devipur, Madhupur and Margomunda with 74 numbers of villages and in Giridih district; it covers two blocks i.e. Bengabad and Gande with 48 numbers of villages. So almost 122 villages we are doing intervention for green college activities. It is the only campus with the area of 5 Acres for green college activities.

About

Centre for World Solidarity (CWS) has been working since 1992 for the development of marginalized communities in five states (Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu) in India. Presently CWS is partnering, nurturing and collaborating with 184 civil society organizations, 15 fellows and 24 networks by providing both financial and non-financial support. The focus of CWS is mainly on three thematic areas, they are Livelihood, Governance and Human Dignity.

Background

Haritgram Green College was established in January’2016, as a continuation of the SIFS (Sustainable Integrated Farming System run by the host organization, CWS. The host organization, Centre for World Solidarity (http://www.cwsy.org/) has its office in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. It works on Deprived of basic human rights, specially women, dalit, adivashies and minorities, Livelihoods and management of natural resources, food safety and nutrition, agricultural allied services, Vocational and Technical Education, Women and child health etc. in rural areas, through partnering, nurturing, and collaborating with volunteer organizations and other stake holders in an integrated way spread over 10 districts of Jharkhand and almost 6 states all over India.

Mission, Vision

To promote a right based gendered and eco-sustainable approach that will advance people – centered governance, livelihoods and management of natural resources. This will be achieved through partnering, nurturing and collaborating with Voluntary Organizations and other stakeholders at all levels.

The emergence of an equitable society of small communities, where all those deprived of basic human rights, especially women, Dalits, Adivasis and minorities, live with dignity, a society that is vibrant with the consciousness of both rights and duties, free from violence and committed to eco-friendly development.
