It is a toolkit with standard operating processes for establishing new Green Colleges and for offering Green College services to clients nationally and internationally.
What are Green Colleges?
Green Colleges are community based institutions offering short-term and medium-term skill development courses on agriculture, agri-allied and clean energy sectors. In our country, forestry, agriculture, and allied and other traditional skill sectors are largely served by the unskilled or semi-skilled workforce. Green Colleges improve the lives of this rural work force by imparting need-based skills with the aim to develop entrepreneurs who manage agriculture as a business and experience an increment in income.
Green colleges have state-of-the-art facilities which enable an effective learning environment. Each Green College is equipped with class-rooms, space for practical and demonstration plots and lodging and dining amenities that support conducting trainings and workshops of large groups of people. Green colleges are supported by prominent, established civil society organizations that already have an experienced team and traction with various grass-root communities.

Our Green College Partners
Green Colleges offer courses for preservation and up-gradation of traditional skills available with the people by virtue of their profession, geographical location or caste. Such traditional skills are recognized and courses are designed to upgrade these skills to a certifiable level so that the certified skills of the learner are acceptable nationally.
Green Colleges act as catalyst centers for developing and propagating the traditional skills of the community on a commercially viable basis. Besides preparing skilled workforce for the market, these Colleges also develop entrepreneurship in the community. Special focus on skill development of this workforce not only boosts economic growth by increasing workforce productivity but also leads to distributive justice and equity through increased income of this workforce, which is very large in number.
Specifically, the Green Colleges help in • Mobilizing the community, pre-skilling counselling and entrepreneurship motivation • Skill development and delivery • Post-monitoring handholding support for the skilled entrepreneurs
